Pauni Town is 'C' class Municipal Council. Pauni town is situated at latitude 20º48’ (North) and Longitude (79º39’) East and is situated on the bank of River Wainganga. It is at a distance of about 43 kms from the District head quarter Bhandara. It is at a distance of about 83 kms from Nagpur and is assessable viz. Umred as well as viz. Bhandara. It is connected to Bhandara by Bhandara Pauni State Highway No. 86. There is a railway station by name Pauni road on Godia-Chandrapur narrow gauge railway line which is at a distance of about 10 kms from Pauni Town. A prestressed concrete all weather bridge on river Wainganga has recently been constructed by B and C dept. The bridges has 13 spans and a total length of 1000 m. There are frequent bus connections from Pauni to Bhandara and Pauni to Nagpur (viz. Umred)
